Aamir Khan,AR Rahman and Ilayaraja for Padma Bhushan

The most prestigious civilian awards, the Padma awards 2010, have been announced and Bollywood has indeed made its presence felt here too. Of the total 130 awardees, 6 are Padma Vibhushan, 43 Padma Bhushan, and 81 Padma Shri. The award winners include Ilayaraja, Aamir Khan and AR Rahman for Padma Bhushan, and Rekha, Arundhati Nag, Resul Pokutty and Saif Ali Khan for Padma Shri.
Aamir Khan, who at present is in the US for the Sundance Film Festival, said it was “wonderful” to be chosen for the honour and thanked his fans and well wishers for their support.
He expressed his joy saying, “The first thing that comes to my mind is my mother’s smiling face. This has been a good day for me. My film ‘Peepli Live’ gets superb response at the Sundance Film Festival and then I receive this wonderful news of getting Padma Bhushan. I wish I was back home right now.”
AR.Rahman Refused Kamal Hassan's offer

Just pick out the great films lined up in the career of Kamal Haasan . ‘Aalavandhan’ was indeed considered to be one of the biggest projects for this actor. But, when approached A.R. Rahman, the musician refused to take up his offer. The frustrated actor thus got in Shankar Mahadevan to score the music. Later, again the situation was worst for K.S. Ravi Kumar-Kamal Haasan when Rahman didn’t want to accept the offer for ‘Dasavatharam’. Finally, now after fetching Oscars , Kamal by all means wanted Rahman to score music for his ‘Thalaivan Irukiran’.
And again, the disappointed actor has made his daughter Shruthi Haasan to score music. None are able to zero down the exact factor. Of course, Rahman has been devotedly taking up offers of films like ‘Sakkarakatti’ and SJ Suryah’s flicks and why not Kamal Haasan?

A.R. Rahman wins Golden Globe nomination for 'Slumdog Millionaire'

By Arun Kumar, Washington, Dec 12 : Noted Indian music director A.R. Rahman has won a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Score for his music in British director Danny Boyle's uplifting underdog tale 'Slumdog Millionaire'.
The film has also earned three other nominations for Best Picture-Drama, Best Director for Boyle and Best Screenplay for Simon Beaufoy for the 2008 Golden Globe Awards given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
The film tells the heart warming story of an 18-year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai who goes on to win a staggering Rs.20 million ($420,000) on India's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" game show.
Earlier this week, "Slumdog Millionaire" won two awards from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association - Best Director for Boyle and Best Music for Rahman. It also won the runner-up prize for Best Cinematography for Anthony Dod Mantle.
The film, set and shot in Mumbai, has also won the Best Cinematography prize from The New York Film Critics' Circle and earned six Critics Choice Award nominations for Picture, Director (Boyle), Writer (Simon Beaufoy), Young Actor (Dev Patel), Composer (Rahman), and Song ("Jai Ho").
Currently playing in several major cities, "Slumdog Millionaire" will open in 87 additional theaters across North America Friday and bring its total theatre count to 165.
New markets where the film will debut this weekend include New Jersey, Connecticut, Ohio, Houston, Austin, Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, Ann Arbor, Milwaukee, Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham, St. Louis, Kansas City, Louisville, New Orleans, Portland, Honolulu and Sacramento.
Himesh Reshamiya refuses to Rahman’s offer

Himesh Reshamiya made high waves in Kollywood with scoring music for Kamal Haasan’s magnum opus ‘Dasavatharam’. Indeed, it was falling in love at first time for the music lovers who were transfixed with his musical score. Of course, the Modern Day Mozart A.R. Rahman is busy now tuning melodies for the biggies in tinsel town. Mani Rathnam’s bilingual project ‘Ashokavanam’ and ‘Raavana’, Kamal Haasan’s ‘Thalaivan Irukiran’ and international project ‘19 Steps’, Shankar’s directorial ‘Endhiran’. In one amongst the projects, A.R. Rahman had dreamt about roping Himesh for rendering his voice. Recently, in a press meet in Mumbai, Rahman had said that he has an idea about offering Himesh to sing a song in one of his biggest projects. Since shooting for the song is slated to be held by next year, Rahman informed it was too early to speak about this.
Nevertheless, Himesh Reshamiya responded to the occasion that it was a dream working with Rahman. But, he wouldn’t accept singing for another performer on the screen and maybe he would feel more elated if Rahman scores music for any of his projects where he performs lead role.
