Vilasrao Deshmukh, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, will be contesting in the coming elections.  It is reported that Genelia will be working for her father-in- law’s election.  Asked her reaction to the reports, Genelia said:

“What is wrong in my working for his election?  My family is involved in politics.  If there is a need for me to enter politics, I shall certainly do so.  But my husband has to allow me for that.  Of course, my father-in-law too has to permit that.  I will certainly enter politics if there is a need for it”.

With Genelia -- her mehendi from the wedding still bright on her wrists -- cheering her hubby from the stands, Ritesh Deshmukh did perform well on the field and took two wickets. Finally, Ritesh’s team won and Genelia D’Souza was seen sharing the team’s exuberance.

Ritesh Deshmuk and Genelia D Souza are finally getting married and the date is announced to be 3rd of February 2012.

The Wedding would be in Maharashtrian style and the reception is said to be in Christian style.Genelia abou ther wedding dress and the preparations said, “I will be wearing outfits by designers like Ritu Kumar, Sureily Goel. I will be wearing a blend of traditional outfits and western silhouettes for the different ceremonies, as I personally am very fond of colors.”

Ritesh is also looking forward to his brother Dheeraj's Marriage with filmmaker Vashu Bhagnani’s daughter Honey, which is also scheduled around the same time.

Genelia who is too excited about planning for the whole thing adds,  “It’s one of the biggest days of our life and so many things are happening around the same time. It just makes for the perfect wedding atmosphere. Though we didn’t expect so many things to be lined up, I’m just very happy for everything!”

Ritesh adds, “I’m excited as it’s my first wedding and I am so busy with my film’s promotion (laughs). There are two weddings happening in our house. Hence, all the frenzy is obvious. Yes, my wedding is to happen on February 3 and that’s for sure. But besides I haven’t planned much as of now.”

Riteish Deshmukh, the Bollywood actor who hails from an influential political family, has confessed that he is in love with Genelia D' Souza and both would enter wedlock next year. "The date has not been fixed yet however," he added.

For more than seven years now, the media has been writing about the relationship between Genalia and Riteish. However, both constantly denied the reports, saying that they are just 'good friends'. "We have been really dignified in our decision to not discuss it in public," says Riteish.

Genelia, who had acted in a string of Tamil movies starting from 'Boys', had her recent flick 'Velayudham' hitting the screens for Deepavali. "I just felt that she was the one. I'm in love with her. That's it. We grew up together. We learnt things together. It was gradual," says Riteish, while talking about his special bonding with Genelia.

Confirming that their families have given consent to the relationship, the young actor adds: "Right from the beginning they knew that we would marry someday. Their blessings are with us. As far as the marriage is concerned, we are working out on various things. We are still trying to figure out the details on the date, venue etc..."

His physique turned out to be so impressive that Hollywood’s ace stunt director JJ Perry has expressed a desire to work with him. JJ Perry has trained Hollywood stars such as Sylvester Stallone for the film HEADSHOT and will soon be training Bollywood hunk John Abraham. Not to mention here that John is extremely overwhelmed by this offer.

The film has some gruelling action sequences and death defying stunts which have been directed by Allan Amin.

The Boys’ girl Genelia D’Souza is upset with rumours of her wedding with actor Riteish Deshmukh. A Mumbai tabloid had reported the romance between Genelia and Riteish that developed on the sets of “Tujhe Meri Kasam” six years ago is concluding in marriage this year.

But the Santhosh Subramaniam actress says she isn’t getting married to anyone for the time being.

“To set the record straight, I am not getting married to anyone. I have always maintained that my personal life is not something I would like to discuss. But this time since it was something that would affect my family, I decided to take a stand,” said Genelia in a statement released on Tuesday.

My films and my brands are my priority as of now and I’d like to keep it that way. And if I do decide to settle down, you will hear it from me when as and when it happens,” says the actress.

Genelia is right now looking forward to the release of “Chance Pe Dance” in which she is paired with Shahid Kapoor. The film releases on January 15.

Genelia D'Souza surprised her choreographer on the sets of 'Life Partner' when she requested him to include the signature step of the song 'Pappu can't dance' from 'Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na' in the song 'Teri meri ye zindagi'.

"Everyone constantly keeps telling Genelia how popular the song had become and that she grooved so well in the song. So while shooting for this song, Genelia requested choreographer Bosco Caeser if they could include the step. They were taken aback, but understood that it was a sentimental thing and let Fardeen Khan and her use the step," said a source close to the film.

Talking about the song situation, director Rumi Jaffery said: "'Teri meri ye zindagi' is the romantic song picturised on Genelia D'souza and Fardeen Khan� in the film newly married and are on their honeymoon."

"Life Partner" also stars Prachi Desai and Tushar Kapoor and is scheduled for an Aug 14 release.

Genelia D’Souza is looking forward to the release of Life Partner on the Independence Day holiday weekend on August 14th. She rejects suggestions that she hasn’t been working very hard for the last year. “I have worked with UTV, Studio 18, Aamir Khan Productions, done films in the South, and I have four releases this year. There’s one opposite Fardeen Khan, It’s My Life opposite Harman Baweja, Hook Ya Crook with John Abraham and Yahoo with Shahid Kapoor. Isn’t that a lot?” she asks.

Genelia’s reference to the her film with Shahid Kapoor being called Yahoo will upset director Ken Ghosh. “Because as far as I’m concerned my film is not called Yahoo,” he insists, “The title has registered with the public because it has been thrown at them so often. But it hasn’t been registered with us. We don’t have the title, plain and simple. Some other producer has the title Yahoo. Not that I’m really keen on calling the film Yahoo anyway.”

Genelia recently took a time-out in Mumbai to play football in the rain near the new Bandra-Worli Sealink. She was clearly enjoying the experience. “It’s been five years since I played football in the rain,” she says, “Do you know I was a national level football player in college?”

Such was the effect of Genelia D’Souza’s micromini that the traffic got jammed and the photoshoot had to be cancelled at Bandstand Fort, Bandra, where the hot lady was supposed to shoot a sizzling intimate photoshoot with Shahid. The photoshoot was supposed to start at 4pm but when Genelia emerged wearing a micromini, the crowd started gathering and slowly went on to grow beyond controllable numbers.
Even the cops despaired over the numbers. The unit members even tried to cover up Genelia with a pair of jeans, but to no avail. Finally the cops told the unit to cancel the shoot. Well, if Genelia steps out in a micromini, who wouldn’t love to catch a glimpse???

Asin and Genelia in an Orange War!

The battle has begun between two former south Indian actresses Asin and Genelia now ruling the roost in Bollywood for India’s biggest orange soft drink market- South India. Asin has been endorsing Mirinda for the last three years, while Genelia has become Fanta brand ambassador from this year. Tamilnadu alone accounts for 25 percent of the total orange soft drink market in the country. The rivalry between PepsiCo and Coca Cola India for the South Orange market has been bitter, and much juice has flowed in the campaign. Last three years the market leader in the orange category was clearly PepsiCo India’s Mirinda, thanks to Asin, while Simran and later Trisha gave stiff competition with Coca Cola India’s Fanta.


This summer, Fanta has decided to take Mirinda head on by signing up Genelia, the new youth icon in Bollywood who has a huge fan base in south. Says a leading Chennai based brand consultant: “ Asin and Genelia are big in Bollywood today after Ghajini and Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na respectively. They have already become national brand ambassadors for their respective brands. But the winner in the orange war will be decided by who wins in Tamilnadu, the biggest market for orange soft drink in the country.”


On Friday (April 17) Genelia, flew to Chennai for a big summer 2009 Fanta launch in Tamilnadu. Genelia was in her elements and said, “It feels great to be associated with Brand Fanta. It has been my favorite sparkling drink for a long time. I am quite thrilled about the launch of Fanta Apple. It’s a great product and I am confident that its refreshing taste would find a special appeal amongst all my fans.” Two weeks back Asin was in Coimbatore for summer season launch party of Mirinda. Asin’s two new television commercials with the theme ’Mirinda Kannu, Konjam Galatta Pannu’ have become super hits with the audiences. The buzz in the soft drink market in Tamilnadu is that this summer it is going to be a tough battle between the two orange drinks, and larger than life stars play an important role in the sales.

Sonam Kapoor features in the new Jagore ad, where she appeals to the youth to cast their vote. Following her footsteps are none other than Gul Panag, Genelia D Souza, Rahul Bose and Kunal Kapoor. The awesome foursome have associated themselves with YOUTHLEAD, a programme organized by youngsters to spread awareness amongst them regarding voting. The celebs have teamed up with 10 NGO’s who will address the youth on Saturday 4th April between 7 pm to 10 pm at Mt CARMEL church grounds, Bandra West, next to Lilavati Hospital. The celebs will be a part of the mela on Saturday to celebrate the power of youth during this national election.


The event will be inaugurated by Rahul Bose who believes that every youngster should vote because if they don’t, someone else will vote in their name. Genelia, Kunal and Gul told Indiatimes Movies that, “If youngsters want the Indian politics and their country to get better they have to be the change they want to see in the society.” Genelia added, “Many youngsters have voting issues, have no clue about their rights and duties etc. Events like these will spread the awareness amongst them.” The event will also see many other celebs like Vishal Dadlani and Gerson D’Cunha supporting the cause.
