The Garam Masala stars Khiladi Akshay Kumar and John Abraham are back with Dezi Boys with the sizzling Deepika Padukone as their female lead.

The film is directed by debutant Rohit Dhawan, son of David Dhawan. The film is an action comedy and is set to get released on the 25th of November.

The film's music is scored by Pritam and is distributed by Eros Entertainment. The film Desi Boyz had plans of roping in Sonam Kapoor in the lead earlier. But since she turned down the offer,it was then offered to Anushka Sharma who too have rejected.

We also heard that the film used the website StarNow.com to recruit extras for filming. The film's theatrical trailer is said to be released alongside John Abraham's Force which is scheduled for release on the 16th of September.

Directed by Prabhudeva, produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ronnie Screwvala and co-produced by designer Shabinaa Khan, the film has Sonakshi Sinha opposite Akshay.

The 43-year-old actor, who is extremely fitness conscious, will soon be heading to an undisclosed location for two months to train in this form of martial art.

"The movie will introduce to audiences a new kind of sport and being the professional that he is, Akshay has decided to take two months off to train intensively in combat karate," said a source.

"Set in the rustic heartland of the country, the film has a lot of action and required a star who knew the technical know-hows of his dangerous sport. Akshay seemed the perfect fit since being a trained martial arts professional he could pull the role off with panache," the source added.

Akshay Kumar’s jacket torn by girls at the nightclub

As a part of the promotional campaign for his forthcoming flick ‘Action Replayy’, Akshay Kumar played DJ and tuned in to some of his favorite numbers from 1970s, but little did the actor know that he will be mobbed by the girls there at the nightclub where he was with his co-star Aditya and director Vipul Shah. Things went out of control when the girls ended up tearing his classic retro golden jacket to get clicked with him.

“The moment Akshay entered the club, there was a roar among the people present at the place… there was this bunch of young girls who insisted on clicking pictures with him but the photo session went a bit out of control and Akshay’s jacket got torn in a place,” Vipul Shah, producer-director of the movie, said in a statement.

However, sporting as Khiladi Kumar is, he laughed it off and was cool enough to be seen without his jacket throughout the remaining night.

They were present at the event organised by the Cancer Patients Aid Association and the stars sang and danced with cancer patients while on their promotion spree.

Both of them were overwhelmed with emotions to see the kids. Aishwarya urged people to come forward to offer support to these children. She said, “I think everybody should come forth, contribute in whichever way, in whatever manner you can, to help fund the treatment of people, be it children or whoever the people in need because cancer is a big fight and I think it is something that’s an ongoing fight with a large part of the human community. So, do whatever you can, financially, personally in spending time, in being there and lending support and strength.”

Bonding with the cancer patients, Khiladi Kumar said, “Today I felt very good after looking at them (children) dance and even looking at their stamina. I have a very old relation with cancer as my father had cancer, So, I can feel the pain.”

'Khatta Meetha' fails to hit the mark

When an Akshay Kumar starrer releases, footfalls are obviously expected at theatres. After all, he’s the star who promises belly-aching laughs. Alas, there were few to be had from his latest film Khatta Meetha if the critics’ reviews are to go by.

Critics apart, even janta doesn’t seem too gung-ho about the movie. The film, directed by Priyadarshan had a decent opening weekend with a net collection of Rs. 23 crores. But multiplexes witnessed a fall in occupancy from Monday onwards. A not-so-good word of mouth isn’t working in the film’s favour either.

If trade figures are to go by, the film has fared much below Akshay’s last release Housefull which raked in Rs. 31 crores in its opening weekend. Trade pundits believe the competition Khatta Meetha got from the Hollywood release ‘Salt’ and the already running ‘Inception’ might have dented the movie’s collections. The Christopher Nolan flick has made about Rs 12.50 crores at multiplexes in just ten days.


This Friday would see the release of director Milan Luthria’s crime thriller Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai.

The movie is based on the subject of road development and the road mafia. Struggling road Construction contractor, Sachin Tichkule (Akshay Kumar) has no scope to turn big as he has no money to bribe. To make matters worse the new Municipal Commissioner turns out to be his ex-girlfriend (Trisha Krishnan), who now hates him. The movie is a satirical comedy with how Sachin bumbles his way from one disaster to another and survives corruption and bribery rampant in the system in his own ingenious way.

A trip down memory lane it’s gonna be for Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai when they shoot an unusual song for director Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s film Action Replayy later this month in the hilly town of Manali in north India.

Through the song, titled ‘Nakhre Nakhre’, the vintage romance as seen in the Hindi films of 1970s will be recreated. It’s a breezy, teasy number that will have Akshay and Ash paying tribute to the romantic couples that ruled the hearts of movie buffs back then.

 

From what we learn, the song will weave the magic of love jodis of yore like Amitabh Bachchan-Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra-Hema Malini, Shashi Kapoor-Parveen Babi, Rishi Kapoor-Neetu Singh and Rajesh Khanna-Mumtaz.

 

The number, composed by Pritam, will not just have Ash and Akki impersonate the aforementioned stars, they will don similar dresses and make-up as well.

 

‘Action Replayy’ is an unusual love story that unfolds backwards in time.

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif has been struck by jaundice at a wrong time Katrina has been forced indoors missing the promotional events of her upcoming movie De Dana Dan. She was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai and has been advised complete bed rest for a while. Katrina had been feeling weak for quite a while but she couldn't go for treatment due to hectic work schedule.

He said that the entire De Dana Dan team was missing her during the promotional events and wanted her to quickly recover and be back in action. On Friday Akshay left for Malaysia. "I'm shooting an ad for a cola in Malaysia. It's very different from all the ads that I've done so far. No action this time. It's a nice soft and gentle ad. I hope my critics will like me at least in this ad," chuckled Akshay wryly before taking off for Malaysia.

After a two day shoot in Malaysia, he flies straight to London and will be back only in September. Ideally Akshay would've returned home after shooting the ad in Malaysia and proceeded to London later.

But the critical response to his new film has been a complete downer. "The same aggressive tu tu main main in Hangover got 4 and 5 star rating while my film was treated so shabbily," Akshay observed unhappily.

Disgusted, appalled and disillusioned by what he sees as a clear case of jealous rivals trying to rain down on his parade, Akshay Kumar has left the country ahead of schedule.

Akshay was supposed to leave for London later during the month for a long schedule of Sajid Khan's Housefull. But he decided to pre-pone his trip, offering the excuse that he liked to arrive at a location ahead of a schedule to get comfortable. "If I've the time I like to arrive early check out the ambience, make things comfortable for myself and the unit before they arrive."

But those close to Akshay pooh-pooh this line of thought. According to a source very close to Akshay, "He couldn't bear the savage criticism of Kambhakkht Ishq. Even when the film was declared a hit, the barrage of criticism continued. Akshay needed to get away from the backlash."

The censor board has asked the Khiladi actor Akshay Kumar to stop playing the ‘Khel’ of delivering unacceptable dialogues in his forthcoming movie Kambhakkt Ishq. Dialogues such as “Women are good for only two things, making love and making love” and “Marriage Ke Pehle Ladkiyan Sex object Hoti Hai and Marriage Ke Baad Mein They object to Sex” have created a huge cry amongst the audiences and the censor board has asked producer Sajid Nadiadwala to cut those scenes in order to get a U/A rating, or take an ‘A’ rating instead. Akshay, Kareena going to Cannes!

If things go as planned, the eagerly awaited Bollywood movie Kambakkht Ishq will premiere at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival. The festival in the south of France can see Bollywood’s action and comedy king Akshay Kumar and style diva Kareena Kapoor walking the red carpet in May. High on style and oomph, ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ is a movie with an international appeal and tons of Hollywood glamour in the desirable shapes of stars like the ‘Rambo’ man Sylvester Stallone, ‘Wild Things’ sex siren Denise Richards, and ‘Superman’ Brandon Routh. So it’s not surprising that producer Sajid Nadiadwala is thinking of showcasing the film at Cannes. Reports say plans are already afoot to slice the movie’s running time and to dub it in English for the special screening at the Cannes Film Festival.


And buzz is that everyone from the cast, including Akshay, Kareena and the Hollywood stars will walk the red carpet for the film’s premiere. The makers of ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ don’t want to leave any stone unturned to promote the film as an international movie. The film will release worldwide with a huge number of prints (the figure is not known) surpassing even blockbusters like Singh Is Kinng and Ghajini , that set records for releasing with maximum number of prints. And both Nadiadwala and the film’s distributor Eros International see a Cannes premiere as the best possible international publicity for the film. The producer says plans are underway but the Cannes premiere is not confirmed yet.

Previously, only Akshay was supposed to shoot the song with Electra, but now Bebo too has joined the duo for the expensive video. Bebo has confirmed the news: "Yes, it’s true that I’ll be there in the music video with Carmen Electra and Akshay.” As for now, she is in Philadelphia shooting for a Karan Johar production and will be back in December last week.

Electra is expected to come to India in February to shoot the number. Reportedly, Sajid Nadiadwala had to shell out a substantial sum of money to get the saucy siren on board.Now, it remains to be seen how Kareena and Carmen would look jiving with the Khiladi Kumar.
