It was surprising moment for the film fraternity as well as the audience present at the 18th Colors Screen Awards function when Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor bent down to touch his ex Deepika Padukon’s feet.

Ranbir Kapoor and his Rockstar lady Nargis Fakhri may not be dating and they claim to be 'good friends'. But that does not mean that the Casanova Ranbir will not surprise his upcoming film's leading lady.

Nargis Fakhri had a surprise birthday party and she was literally on air. They were going to Nagpur in a private jet from Mumbai and the surprise unveiled when they were on air while they were up 20,000 feet.

Nargis cut a chocolate cake (which is her favorite). Not aware of the elaborate preparations to celebrate her birthday, Nargis was taken from her seat by a cabin person and when she came back she was surprised by the wishes poured in from the entire team.

Also present in the flight were singer Mohit Chauhan and producer Hiren Gandhi who surprised her and sang 'Happy Birthday'.

A source, "Everyone knew it was her birthday and at Mumbai airport she was wished but she had no inkling of the mid-air drama."

More than delighted by the wonderful surprise from Ranbir Nargis said, "I was overwhelmed and emotional while cutting the cake! It was great of Ranbir."

Ranbir Kapoor spent more than 30 days with Rahman!

For the music of ROCKSTAR, while A.R. Rahman was of course doing his job and Imtiaz Ali too was expected to participate extensively due to his experience in creation of chartbuster soundtracks for films like LOVE AAJ KAL and JAB WE MET , one wonders whether Ranbir Kapoor too pitched in a little with the music. After all for someone like him who is supposed to be a keen follower of music, there must have been some involvement at the least.

"Yes, I had to be involved but more in the capacity of a follower instead of a contributor," says Ranbir, "Since I am playing a musician in ROCKSTAR, it was important for me to surrender to the film's music. For that, I joined Imtiaz for every song setting that he had with Rahman. In fact I spent more than 30 days with Rahman at his workplace and saw the songs being created up, close and personal. It was nothing less than surreal to see Mohit Chauhan singing those songs that would be picturised on me a few months down the line."

This turned out to be such an eye opener for Ranbir that he further appreciated the depth of the character he was going to enact on screen.

 

"Yes, I had been given a great backdrop when it came to the characterisation but then Imtiaz as well as I feel till date that sitting with Rahman and understand the nuances of music here only helped me grow further," says Ranbir, "I come with a huge disadvantage of not being someone who can sing and this experience only allowed me to feel convincing within myself to play the title role of ROCKSTAR. When you become a part of this entire music-making journey, it only gets easier to perform on the songs; more so due to the (musical) genre that ROCKSTAR belongs to."

The first look of Ranbir Kapoor’s forthcoming ‘Rockstar’ is in circulation online and the posters show a water-coloured version of Ranbir as a rockstar, dressed in a sherwani kind of jacket, salwar and a qawwal topi. The first trailor of the flick will be released with ‘Bodyguard’ which hits the theatres on ‘Eid’.

However, with the fake first look of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Rawdy Rathore’ hitting the web a few days back, some people doubt whether the same trick is being played with this poster too. The fake work of a designer was doing rounds as ‘Rawdy Rathore’ first look and was caught only when actress Sonakshi Sinha wrote on twitter that it’s a fake.

However, the ‘Rockstar’ posters seem to be a genuine work as they appear on the film’s Facebook page.

Salman Khan plot the Ranbir-Katrina split-up?

According to a report in Open magazine penned by a senior journalist with an apparent inside info on the juicy happenings in tinsel town, the reason for the break-up between Ranbir and Katrina is that he came to know about a secret visit she made to Salman when the latter was shooting his film Bodyguard in Pune.

The report goes on to claim that Katrina deliberately travelled in an ordinary car so as not to attract attention. But still the news reached Ranbir. How? The writer goes on to suggest that Salman himself made sure that the news of Katrina’s hush-hush visit reached Ranbir’s ears. The young actor was obviously furious to know that his gal was still making secret visits to her ex. What followed next was a fight between Ranbir and Katrina and their subsequent break-up.

This time around while shooting for Sajid Nadiadwala's ANJAANA ANJAANI, Ranbir Kapoor got so engrossed into getting a particular running scene right that co-star Priyanka Chopra injured her leg thanks to a pair of high heels and Ranbir's enthusiasm to get the scene right.

Says a source present on the sets, "In the scene Ranbir and Priyanka had to filmed running away and Ranbir unintentionally was running at a pace too fast for Priyanka who was already having trouble in her high heels .Next thing you know she had fallen down and her leg was bleeding profusely."

The shoot was stalled for four hours and Ranbir Kapoor being the gentleman he is spent the rest of the day profusely apologising to Priyanka Chopra and even personally looked into getting a doctor's opinion.

"Ranbir felt terrible about Priyanka's leg and spent the rest of the day checking up on her and apologizing to her," adds the source.

The rumor mills say a different story; it’s said that Ranbir and Katrina have been seeing each other for a while now. However, the two completely denied any possibility of a relationship and also denied being with each other abroad.

Recently, Asin was dropped from Vipul Shah’s KhaKha KhaKha opposite John Abraham because according to the filmmakers, her character was similar to the one she played in Ghajini, but insiders said that it was John who didn’t want to romance her, though the actor denied the rumours. Now the actress reportedly has lost out on Anurag Basu’s film Silence starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra and that too because she’s not tall enough!

The role had initially gone to Katrina Kaif, who according to gossip mongers had turned it down because of Priyanka’s powerful presence in the film. This led to Anurag hunting for a new face for which he also held auditions but couldn’t find the face he was looking for. It’s then that the producers asked him to take Asin, but the director refused to do so because he’s looking for a girl who is more than 5.8 feet tall.

He doesn’t think she’ll fit the role,” said a source. “Now egos are bruised. Anurag, who wants to have his way, has gone ahead and is busy directing shows for a Bengali channel because of which Silence has been kept on hold.”

Though everyone’s maintaining ‘silence’, it’s ultimately Asin who’s lost out on the opportunity of working with the current heartthrob Ranbir. Fortunately for her, Salman, who had taken a liking for her during the making of London Dreams is doing Anees Bazmee’s Ready with her.

Even after sunset, she had the lights turned on to continue the game. We admire the gal’s sporting spirit, but what we love more is RK’s topless cricket style. We hear that this story about the meeting of two luckless strangers is taken from a French movie ‘La Fille Sur Le Pont’ (The Girl On The Bridge).

However, in the French movie the hero, heroine separates in the end, whereas Priyanka-Ranbir fall in love.

Ranbir Kapoor Becomes Deaf & Dumb

The starson Ranbir Kapoor won’t have to learn sign language from scratch for his role as a deaf and mute character in Anurag Basu’s film. The actor, who assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Black, spent ample time with Ayesha Kapoor and Rani Mukerji when they were being trained on the sets by a teacher for the physically disabled. He had also visited several institutions for the hearing and speech impaired to research on ‘Black’.

The real challenge now lies in creating a musical score that would amply express the simmering discontent behind Ranbir’s silence in the film. Quite like what Laxmikant-Pyarelal did for Jaya Prada in the 1970s in Sargam, which coincidentally starred Ranbir’s father Rishi Kapoor. While filmmakers Bhansali and Gulzar have made songless films like Black and respectively about deaf and mute protagonists, Anurag Basu is going the other way with a full-on musical to bring out his deaf and mute hero’s emotions and feelings.

Consequently, music director Pritam Chakraborty is a worried man as he now faces the biggest challenge of his career in friend Anurag Basu’s new film starring Ranbir. Incidentally, the director and composer live in the same building.

Sarah, who has had a flourishing career on American television and has also done a few notable movies (including ‘Cruel Intentions 2’), plays Ranbir’s American girlfriend. Jha signed her for the part after auditioning and rejecting more than two dozen firang girls.

In the first half of the movie, Ranbir plays a student in an American university. He has an affair with Sarah but the love story is left incomplete when Ranbir has to suddenly leave for India to join politics run by his family. However, unable to get over Ranbir, Sarah follows him to India.

It’s truly an Ajab ghazab prem kahani. The latest whirlwind of gossip in B-Town says Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor are in love but they’ve been concealing it from everyone. The reason, say the rumour mills, is that the duo could not make their relationship public earlier because Ranbir was dating Deepika Padukone and Katrina was with Salman Khan.

However, now that Ranbir has split from Deepika and Katrina is alleged to be single, the two are taking their ‘friendship’ to the romantic level and have started exchanging SMSes and gifts.

On top of it, Ranbir keeps calling Kat now and then to inquire about her health. She’s been under the weather lately because of her low hemoglobin levels. Ranbir Kapoor’s clothes to be auctioned

Youngsters have taken a fancy to Ayan Mukherjee’s film Wake Up Sid, and the T-shirts Ranbir Kapoor wore in the movie have become a sort of fashion rage.

The tees with the Beavis and Butt-head or the Ghostbusters or the Peanut prints are suddenly in demand. So producer Karan Johar has hit upon an interesting idea. Ranbir’s T-shirts, jeans and shorts from the film will be auctioned and the proceeds will be given off to an old age home.

It would be a nice way to make today’s youth contribute towards older generation. Karan himself will contribute a good sum of money for the charitable cause.

The auction will be publicized on TV and Internet in the coming days. And the money will reportedly be handed over to the old age home personally by Karan, Ranbir and Ayan.

Meanwhile, ‘Wake Up Sid’ is enjoying a good run at the theatres. The film has edged out its last week’s competitor Do Knot Disturb by a substantial margin.

Having a most unusual pair of Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma in the lead roles Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions’ forthcoming venture ‘Wake Up Sid’ seems to awake much enthusiasm among the cinelovers. The movie is being directed by debutante Ayaan Mukherjee, who earlier was assistant director of Ashutosh Gowariker in ‘Swades’ and Karan Johar in ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’. Scheduled to release on October 2, 2009, the movie is based on the story of a handsome young boy (Ranbir Kapoor) who falls for an older and simple writer woman (Konkona Sen Sharma).Anupam Kher will be seen as father of Ranbir Kapoor.
This will be the first film produced by Dharma Productions that will be distributed worldwide by UTV Motion Pictures and not by Yash Raj Films, thus marking the end of the collaboration between Dharma Productions and Yash Raj Films.

Dusky damsel Priyanka Chopra will be seen next to Ranbir Kapoor in Siddharth Anand ’s next venture. Yes, Priyanka hasn’t stepped out from the project; she is very much part of it. The movie is said to be a romantic comedy and will be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala instead of Yashraj Films , who have produced all the earlier films of Siddharth. It’s believed that both Siddharth and Sajid wanted a fresh pair and that’s why it was Priyanka opposite Ranbir, as this couple has never been seen on screen. Apparently, Priyanka had initially said no to the project when she heard that the role requires her to gain weight, as the movie’s story was about a fat girl and a good-looking young boy.


Now, Siddharth has abandoned that old script and is working on a new one for this project, though genre remains the same. However, according to sources, many actresses were approached for the flick but all said no as no one was comfortable in looking fat. Even speculations were rife that Katrina Kaif might do this role, but according to Siddharth it was just a rumour. Katrina worked with Siddharth in Bachna Ae Haseeno , but her part was axed because the movie was getting too lengthy. The movie will most likely be shot in the US. Siddharth has confirmed that Ranbir and Priyanka have been signed but is not willing to give any further details, only that the movie is a “romantic comedy with a twist”.

It’s already been reported earlier that Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor’s relationship are going through a rough patch. A huge crack in their love affair has further been created on the occasion of Tarun Mansukhani’s birthday party. A close pal of the couple reveals, "Last week Deepika was to join Ranbir for going to Dostana director Tarun Mansukhani’s birthday party at late night. Since she got stuck due to her work commitments (shooting of Excel Entertainment’s Kartik Calling Kartik), Ranbir told her he would go alone to the party.


But despite telling her so, he didn’t go their. Instead he chose to attend another party that had his debut film Saawariya heroine Sonam Kapoor and her good friend Kunal Kapoor. “He didn’t tell this to Deepika who was well under the impression for days that he was at Tarun’s party. The birthday party saw new love birds Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra making an entry and exit together publicly for the first time. John Abraham and Bipasha Basu too came in for the bash. When Deepika came to know about Ranbir’s lie, it is learnt that she lambasted him over the phone while he kept giving her excuses such as how it was all a last minute change in his plan etc." Its not only Ranbir who is ignoring Deepika but his parents and sister also sounds quite negative about the dusky beauty.

Lovebirds Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone have had their first major fight since the time Ranbir proposed Deepika during the Filmfare Awards Nite earlier this year. The reason for this fight, it is heard, is Katrina Kaif!

It is heard that Deepika was extremely upset when she heard from her sources that Ranbir and Katrina were getting very comfortable on and off the sets of Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. The duo has been shooting in Ooty and Goa for some time. It is rumoured that Deepika was so upset by the news that she flew to Goa to confirm the news. She was there for only a day, but never met Ranbir. When Ranbir came to know about it, he supposedly called Deepika and they both had a huge argument. Since that day, Deepika has been avoiding Ranbir’s calls.

Come on guys, don’t you think you are being too immature about the whole thing. Let us hope that all this misunderstanding is solved very soon. May be Sallu Bhai can help!
